PADI Divemaster – Aya Terauchi

Scuba diving was just on my bucket list – now it is a part of my life!

Aya Terauchi

I am a world traveler and I have a lifetime bucket list. Scuba diving is one of them. I got certified PADI Open Water Course in Hawaii in 2013, which I really enjoyed and was satisfied with the fact that “I did it, bucket list checked.”

I have not had a chance to go diving since then until my friend introduced Aussie Divers in 2015. I did fun dives at Koh Phi Phi and Racha Noi/Yai. I discovered diving in Phuket was amazing with colorful coral reefs and active marine life. I fell in love with scuba diving again! I went back to Hawaii to do PADI Advanced Open Water Course and came back to Phuket to do rescue and ERP with Aussie Divers. Because I loved scuba diving in Phuket and Aussie Divers so much, I finally decided to do a Divemaster course as well.

I did the Divemaster course during a high season in December 2018. It was the busiest time for Aussie Divers and all instructors and staff were working hard every day. My mentor took good care of Divemaster trainees.

I finished the course within 3 weeks with a packed agenda, including learning theories, practicing skills in the pool, and open water and packing bags. The most fun part was meeting new people and sharing diving and life stories on the boat.

I am glad I completed the Divemaster course with Aussie Divers. This is the best dive center to deepen the knowledge, skills and most importantly enjoy scuba diving.

The instructors and staff are amazing, they are kind, funny and passionate. I love spending time together in the early morning with coffee, on the boat and after work with drinks. I value people a lot and I am happy I met awesome people at Aussie Divers. Special thank you to PADI Course Director Darren Gaspari, PADI Master Instructor Ashley Walker and PADI instructor Tom Domville!

Now I am living in a dream life, working in Singapore during weekdays and visiting Phuket to do more scuba diving on the weekends. Who would have thought I’d become a professional PADI diver… Scuba diving was one of the things on my bucket list – now it is a part of my life!

Aussie Divers is the best for both PADI courses and professional!

From Driver to PADI Instructor

Just a couple of short years ago Smith “Big” Buranastidporn applied for a job at Aussie Divers Phuket as a driver. Recognizing Big’s talent beyond a driver staff gave the drivers job to someone else and a job to Big as…. well… we weren’t really sure. What we did know at the time that Big was an excellent graphic artist. He designed the Aussie Divers Phuket logo that we use today. As Aussie Divers Phuket do with all their staff that wish to, we gave Big the opportunity to learn to scuba dive. Big turned out to be a natural under the water. Big started to work his way through the scuba diving ranks. Doing hi [...]

IDC Physiology Exam Tips – Understanding Ears

Problem with the ears is one of the most common injuries you will face as a scuba diving instructor. General soreness may occur in a lot of new scuba divers as they get used to equalizing. Students or unexperienced divers equalizing to forcefully will be one of the most common injury and instructor will face. They say the problem with ears can occur as shallow as one metre. This means that a student could possibly have issues whilst doing to confined water session. Caution needs to be taken in the shallowest of water. What can further enhance this issue is that there is no physical way of teaching a student to equalize nor any [...]

Thomas Aebersold

I run my own Nursing home, so it was not easy to get free time or holiday. In February 2016, the first holiday after 7 years of working I came to Thailand to relax. But, I can’t. I was bored after a half day at the beach so I decided to do anything, which could give me a challenge and I also can keep distance to my business… I started with Aussie Divers Phuket 2016 doing the PADI Open Water Course and PADI Advanced Open Water. I so enjoyed those Courses and the Fun Dives day trips & liveaboards with Aussie Divers that I found a new passion. I decided to come back to Aussie Divers Phuket to go on with my Dive development care [...]
