IDC Prior Learning & PADI IDC Online
What IDC Prior Learning and PADI IDC Online do I have to complete before starting the PADI IDC and how difficult will it be. This is a question that gets asked many times via email by interested parties and the answer is never the same because it is highly dependent on what you already know, which is probably everything?

Dive Theory Online (Option – Recommended)
Dive Theory eLearning is a comprehensive overview of dive physics, dive physiology, dive skills, environmental considerations, dive equipment, and decompression theory and the Recreational Dive Planner (RDP). Each section consists of multimedia instructional material followed by questions to review what you’ve learned. You may find this course useful to prepare for your exams.
Physical Dive Skills
You should know how to do the following things safely, correctly and without difficulty.
- Deploy a surface marker buoy
- Deploy a lift bag
- Basic underwater navigation skills
- Boat entry & exits
- Assemble your diving equipment
- Operate a dive computer
- Swim 400 metres and treat water for 10 minutes
- Rescue Skills including: Surfacing a simulated unresponsive non-breating diver. Providing aid at the surface. Exiting. First aid on boat/shore including rescue breathing for and administering oxygen to the victim using a rescue breathing mask.
Diving Knowledge
You should understand and be able to do, or generally explain the following things.
- General diving knowledge
- Safe diving practices
- Equalisation theory
- Basic Physics of and scuba diving
- Basic mathematical skills
- Operate a calculator
- Know the names of 5 fish *
* Just kidding, ask one of your instructor to teach you though :)
