Accommodation FAQ

Accommodation FAQ

Helpful answers to commonly asked questions about accommodation in Phuket

Q: Can Aussie Divers provide accommodation?

A: Yes. Aussie Divers now owns and operates a 7 room hotel that is directly above our Chalong dive center shop. Rooms are 500 THB per night in low season, and 1,000 THB per night in high season. If you have booked one of our IDC packages you get 14 nights free in our hotel.

Q: What are the high and low season dates?

  • LOW SEASON :: May 1st – Oct 31st
  • HIGH SEASON :: Nov 1st – April 31st

Q: If your hotel is full do I still get 14 nights free when booking an IDC package?

A: Yes. We will secure you a room of equal or lesser value (season depending) in one of our partner hotels close to our Chalong dive shop.

Q: If I don’t wish to stay with Aussie or one of our partner hotels, can I get a discount on my IDC package?

A: No. If you wish to stay somewhere specific, outside of Chalong, or more expensive, you need to pay for it yourself. The accommodation bonus is non-redeemable for cash and can not be refunded or put towards discounted diving activities if you choose not to use it.

Q: What are your rooms like?

A: All rooms have AC, WIFI, TV, comfy bed, linen and pillows. Each room has it’s own private balcony. Each room has it’s own private bathroom. Each room is serviced daily. We have a safe downstairs for valuables. Secure entrance door. Couples are welcome, no extra charge for 2 people in the room if they are a couple!

Q: Is the WIFI reliable and fast?

A: Our WIFI is extremely fast and very reliable, it is of course free with the rooms so you will always have access to the internet for research and study purposes over the course of your IDC.

Q: Where is the best place to stay when doing my IDC?

A: The best place to stay for your IDC is close to where you will be doing the bulk of your work! In this case that is Chalong, Pier Road, where our Chalong office is located. This is where you will do all your classroom work and where you will store equipment. This is also where our driver leaves from for beach diving and pool training activities.

If you are planning on staying elsewhere you most likely need to organise your own transport to and from the classroom each day and possibly to other facilities depending on the availability of our driver.

I did my PADI Divemaster course with Ashley Walker in Queensland in 2013. Ash mentioned he was having a great time working in Thailand with Aussie Divers. Ash convinced me to head to Phuket and to do my PADI Instructor Development Course with Aussie Divers Phuket. Darren and the team really made the course a couple of weeks to remember. Ash recommended that I do PADI IDC online and I am glad that I did. It freed me up to work on other parts of the course and even let me have a days break in the second week which I really needed. The support I got through the IDC not only from Darren and Ash but from the whole team was unbelievable. [...]

I was referred to Aussie Divers Phuket and Darren Gaspari by Platinum Course Director Christophe Pace I had a very enjoyable and professional IDC with Darren and Ash. Both had a great sense of humor which made the course go quite quickly. Both spent extra time with me working on areas that I had trouble with. Unfortunately I am not very good at Physics and Physiology and both spent many of extra hours making sure that I was able to pass the exams comfortably. I came away from the course not only as a PADI Scuba Diving Instructor but with a new approach on scuba diving. I also made many friends amongst the Aussie Divers team who made me feel like one of the [...]

From the 26th June to the 8th of July 2016, I took my PADI Instructor Development course (PADI IDC) with course director Darren Gaspari, of Aussie Divers Phuket. The Instructor Development team including, Darren, Simon, Ash and the rest of the instructor staff at Aussie Divers Phuket personally assisted with my development as an instructor. Going above and beyond in the training and preparation to ensure I not only passed the PADI Instructor Exams, but also passed the PADI IE with top scores. The entire Aussie Divers team, with many years of training behind them was able to provide me with ample opportunities to learn and develop my practical skills. All provided in a professional environment and manor, working [...]
