Easing the Burden of out PADI Instructor Development Course
The PADI Instructor Development Course can be a full on and sometimes challenging and stressful course. There is quite a bit to get through, there is new information and new tasks and each day is jammed with things to do and learn.
What we are offering now is some extra time spent with our professional dive time tailored to your needs. You can use this time to do a number of different things. Skill practice , theory practice, course assistance or just to do the IDC at a much more relaxed place.
Skill Practice
Your bread and butter course when you become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor is the PADI Open Water Course.
The open water course has about 34 confined water skills and an addition four different skills in open water. Given that you were taught these in you in your PADI Open Water Course and PADI Advanced Open Water Course and that you were tested on 24 underwater skills for your PADI Divemaster course (and passed) you are expected to be able to perform at the level of a PADI Divemaster.
As PADI believes that you are already competent in these skills there is no time allocated during the IDC to practice or be retaught these again.
Any of the 24 skills you did during your PADI Divemaster (and PADI Open Water Course) are examinable at the PADI Instructor exams. The PADI Instructor Development Course, or worse the PADI Instructor Examinations is not the place to find out that you are not that good at hovering or that you can’t remember how to do a free-flowing regulator.
If you have not performed these skills for what a while and you are unsure about them then the Aussie Divers Phuket Extended Instructor Development will help. You will have time to assist and practice with the first day of a PADI Open Water Course and will have time allocated to repeating the confined open (pool) water skills again.
Theory Practice
The PADI Instructor Examinations will have five theory exams to do. These are Physics (everyone’s favorite), Physiology, Skills and Environment, Recreational Dive Planner and Equipment.
Again, this is knowledge that PADI believes you already possess and although there will sometime during the course to do some practice exams, however there is not a lot of time set aside to learn the information.
Physic in particular can be a distraction for some during the IDC and it is always beneficial to have and a good understanding of your theory prior to the start of the IDC so you can focus the course itself.

Understanding Course Structures
Understanding course structures can also sometimes be an issue during the PADI Instructor Development course. If it has been 7, 10 even 20 years since you have done your PADI Open Water Course, Advanced Open Water course it may be difficult pick on how the courses are structured and run.
Assisting on courses prior to the IDC will be very bifacial to the presentations to your understanding of the training you will receive.
Personally as well, I believe that, associating with students prior to the IDC does enhance you ability to present and teach during your exams.
Just Doing a More Relaxed Course
As previously mentioned the PADI Instructor Development Course is a pretty full scheduled course. Given that there are some serious and expensive exams at the conclusion, some may take some extra time to make certain that you get through without too many issues.
You could also just want to do the course at a more relaxed pace. Rather than doing ten or so days straight of study, you could break it down so that it is a easier course and you could take a few days of to relax and explore the stunning island of Phuket.
